more demonstration of impotence

DEMONSTRATIE VAN ONVERMOGEN

 

‘Happy Island’, het thema van de Biënnale, het thema beter gezegd, het logo en kenmerk van het land Aruba, dat als een soort merk zich representeert en exploreert.

Met de logische vraagtekens en uitroeptekens stapte ik met open vizier een week rond op het ‘one happy island’ en reageerde met 6 schilderijtjes en twee beelden die een buiten-installatie vormen voor de ingang van de tentoonstelling.

Tevoren had ik wel schetsen gemaakt en wist ik dat ik wilde werken met de ‘columns’, de sierpaaltjes die men hier heel typisch gebruikt voor balustrades, muurafrasteringen en op balkons. Ze decoreren de afbakeningen van territorium en ik laat ze door mijn verlengde en gekruiste versie verwijzen naar iets agressievere afbakeningen; namelijk roadblocks. In de schilderijtjes associeer ik verder met de pilaartjes en het gekunstelde en opgelegde ‘happiness’ gevoel. ‘Happy Delivering’ staat letterlijk op de cola-bezorgauto’s met soortgelijke bruisende grafische ejaculatie. In mijn werk zijn het geen flesjes maar de paaltjes die klaarkomen en rond worden gebracht. Ook wordt zo’n paaltje getransformeerd bij de ‘Happy Winner’, de golfer in hurkstand, in een trofee en tegelijkertijd zijn verwaarloosde kindje vanwege papa’s aandacht voor zijn sport. Zijn vrouw verdwijnt in vlekken en haren-hekwerk, terwijl ze koffie drinkt uit een kopje met pilaar-logo. Het hek-vlechtwerk komt ook meerdere malen terug en vooral in ‘Demonstration of Impotence’ is er de meervoudige verwijzing naar demonstreren, actie, protest en de impotentie van een dode V6 Ford Explorer motor, die linksdragend naar beneden hangt. Hat apparaat waar de man altijd mee bezig is en die bepalend is voor ‘Happiness’!

 

DEMONSTRATION OF IMPOTENCE

 

‘Happy Island’, the theme of the Biennial. The theme rather, the logo and characteristic of the island of Aruba, which is like a brand that represents and explores ‘happiness’.

With logical question marks and exclamation marks I stepped openly about one week on the “one happy island” and responded with 6 small paintings and two sculptures that formed an outside installation at the entrance of the exhibition.

Previously I had made ​​sketches and I knew I wanted to work with the ‘columns’, the typical decorative poles that people here very use for balustrades, wall fences and balconies. They decorate the demarcations of territory and I let them through and crossed my extended version refering to somehow more aggressive demarcations; namely roadblocks.

In the paintings I associate further with the pillars and the artificial and dictated ‘happiness’ feeling. ‘Happy Delivering’ literally stands on the cola-delivery vehicles with similar vibrant graphics like an ejaculation. In my work are no bottles but the columns that are placed around and delivering the cumshot. Also some pole transformed in the ‘Happy Winner’, the golfer in his squatting position, into a trophy, while his neglected child because dad’s attention to his sport is in his arms, in the cup. His wife disappears in stains and hair-fence, while drinking coffee from a cup with pillar logo. The wire-braid is also returned several times and especially in “Demonstration of Impotence” is the plural reference to demonstrate, action, protest and the impotence of a dead Ford Explorer V6 engine, bearing left hanging down. The dominating device which determines ‘Happiness’!

‘Ins Blaue’ again and something new…

‘Ins Blaue’, landed in the sculpture garden of the castle ‘Het Nijenhuis’ in the village of Heino, dependance of Museum ‘De Fundatie’ in Zwolle; a co-operation with pop festival Lowland on which it will stand the coming years again at the entrance.
